The camp is very basic in its nature and intended use. In general it is not regularly maintained and when it is the efforts are from area volunteers. The land is 100% flood plain and regulated by the Grand River Conservation Authority. The Walter Bean Grand River Trail has an easement agreement with Scouts Canada for use and maintenance of the trail and roadway into and across the camp. The City of Kitchener physically maintains the trail and our roadway from the gate to the where the trail moves onto city land. The trail users normally are respectful and vigilant neighbours who appreciate our community partnership.
The camp is intended for use of our members for daytime/evening use.
The facilities include the trail, field, bush, shelter and fire pit. The old outhouse is not maintained and conditions may not be appropriate for use. We strongly recommend checking and monitoring the camp prior to use.
As this is floodplain:
· Be aware of wet spring conditions and year round after heavy rains including the river banks during these times.
· There are also year round wetlands on the property. Groups should respect these areas.
IF overnight use is contemplated, permission is thru normal channels and charges may apply. An overnight user is required to provide (at their own cost) water and appropriate portable sanitary services. This camp is not intended for long term camping (more than 3 days)
Any issues with the camp can be directed to the Area Property Manager, Kevin Donovan.
As with any Scouts Canada property enjoy the outdoors with the safety of our youth in mind!
